Find your letter.

Letter H: 4 loom layers.

Start with one white banner in a loom. Add the dye and select the named shape for each step, then put the resulting banner back into the loom for the next step. These recipes use ordinary shapes and no special pattern items. Each step consumes one dye.

For “HELLO”: 5 white banners, 15 Black dye, 5 White dye and one loom. Base banner crafting materials are separate. Dye counts include masking layers.

These are original stylized A–Z recipes. Previews use drawn schematics; shapes, dye colors and difficult letters can look different in-game. Recipes meet the six-layer rule but have not been play-tested in a running game. Version and source notes.

A name above
the door.

Banner lettering uses layers of stripes, crosses and background-colored masks. Apply the shapes in the listed order: later layers cover earlier ones. Changing a mask to the letter color changes the shape, so keep your base banner and masking dye matched.

  1. Choose a short word and contrasting colors. The A–Z alphabet below lets you inspect any letter before making it.
  2. Craft one base banner per letter. Use the same banner through the ordered loom steps, checking each intermediate preview.
  3. Hang the letters in order, with an empty position for each space. Check the trickier letter shapes in-game before producing duplicates.

Find charges and material requirements in the Minecraft banner patterns reference. For a round base under your build, use the Minecraft circle generator.

BEFORE YOU MAKE

Your project questions.

How do I make letter banners in Minecraft?

Enter a word, choose letter and background colors, then select a letter to see its recipe. Start with a banner in the background color and apply each named shape and dye in a loom, in order. Each letter uses a separate banner.

Are all letters A–Z supported?

Yes, with original stylized recipes. Difficult letters such as D, G, K, M, Q, R, S, V, W and Y have notes explaining their shape. The previews are schematics, not exact in-game textures, and the recipes have not been play-tested in a running game.

How many pattern layers can a banner have?

These recipes stay within six loom layers per banner. A background-colored masking layer still counts as a layer and uses one dye. The base banner itself is separate from those layers.

Do these letters need special banner pattern items?

No. The A–Z recipes on this page use ordinary loom shapes. You need a loom, base banners and dyes. Special charge items such as Creeper Charge are covered on the banner patterns reference page.

Can I use numbers or custom fonts?

This planner supports A–Z and spaces, with a limit of 24 characters. Lowercase converts to uppercase and other characters are removed. It does not turn an arbitrary font or image into a loom recipe.

What does the materials count include?

It counts one base banner per letter and one dye per pattern application, including background-colored masks and repeated letters. Spaces are gaps and need no banner. Materials to craft the base banners and loom are separate.

Which Minecraft version is the reference for?

Pattern names, ordinary versus special requirements and the six-layer limit are referenced to Java Edition 1.21.11. Previews are independently drawn schematics. Check your game edition and resource pack before reproducing a large word.

Can I print my word and its recipes?

Yes. Print / Save PDF includes the word, dye totals and distinct letter recipes. Word PNG saves the schematic preview and Recipes TXT saves the ordered instructions.
