This CRT filter applies a stylized screen treatment to a still image. It combines horizontal scanlines, an RGB stripe mask, a small horizontal softening pass and optional curved edges. It is a visual effect, not a physical simulation of a particular display.
- Upload pixel art or a game screenshot, or try the sample. Large images are fitted to a 1,600-pixel long edge for the working preview and download.
- Start with a preset, then adjust scanlines, RGB mask, softness, brightness and curvature. Check small letters and faces against the original.
- Download the processed PNG or a side-by-side comparison. Curved corners are transparent, and the comparison uses the working image dimensions.
For a new image-based design, start with the pixel art maker. For a full-size mosaic, use Pixelate image.
BEFORE YOU MAKE
Your project questions.
Does the filter change my original file?
No. It creates a processed copy in the browser. Original view lets you compare the working image without the CRT effect.
Is this an accurate CRT emulator?
No. It is a lightweight visual approximation with scanlines, RGB stripes, horizontal softness and curved edges. It does not model a particular tube, phosphor or video signal.
Why does my image get darker?
Scanlines and the RGB mask lower some channel values. Reduce their strength or raise brightness. High brightness can clip highlights, so compare the result with the original.
Will the download have the original dimensions?
Images up to 1,600 pixels on their longest side keep their dimensions. Larger images are proportionally resized before processing, and the displayed working size is the download size.
Does it process video or animated GIFs?
No. This version processes one still image. GIF input uses a still frame. It does not export a video, animated GIF or game-engine shader.
Can I share a comparison?
Yes. Download comparison PNG places the unfiltered working image and filtered result side by side. The labels and controls in the browser are not included.
